  • I hope that you are having a wonderful, restful summer. We have been busy this summer working to make sure that we begin this school year with sure footing. We know that you are anxious about the school year and we want to assure you we are working very hard to ensure it is a success. This digest will explain some details and provide dates when further details will be made available.
  • As you may know, the district has decided to begin the school year with remote learning instead of in-person learning at the school. According to the district reopening plan, this is Phase 1. As of now, we will not begin Phase 2 until October the earliest.
  • Note the Phases below. Dates will be determined by the Board of Education and the Superintendent of Schools Phase 1-Remote Phase 2-33%
    Phase 3-50%,
    Phase 4-75%
    Phase 5-Fully Open
  • Instruction will be a combination of synchronous and asynchronous. Synchronous instruction will happen via Google Meet or Zoom for grades K-8. Our

  • Students will need to be on during the school day from 8:30 to 2:45. Attendance will be taken.
  • Teachers will be communicating primarily through their Google Classroom Pages. Once teachers have returned on September 8, we will post their classrooms and codes on the Cordero Digest Blog. Student class schedules will also be available on the teacher Google Classroom Page..
  • Clearly, there is a need to be connected and have a device to complete the work and participate. Please complete the Technology Survey to help us plan to ensure all students can access instruction.
  • Classroom assignments are being finalized and will be available on Infinite Campus Parent and Student Portals on Wednesday. If you see assignments prior to Wednesday, they are subject to change to ensure we have balance in our classrooms. Eventually, all students will also have which group they are assigned to once we move to Phase 2. More information on that will happen once the district plans to enter Phase 2.
  • We will have more information regarding Pre-K as we receive updates from the Early Childhood Department. We anticipate having classroom assignments by Wednesday and further details by Friday. In order to receive your child's classroom assignment, check on Infinite Campus. For those who have never logged in, please use this form instead. (Note: This survey will close on Friday, September 4. Emails of Child Assignments will be sent on Tuesday September 8.)
  • Currently, there is no need to worry about uniforms. We will update you on uniforms when it becomes pertinent.
  • Supply Lists were provided in June. Because we are beginning remotely, you can wait to gather those items. If you feel like the sales now are worth it, feel free to get them. There is no expectation from the school or the teachers to get those supplies until we return to in-person instruction in the school building.

The link is here: https://jerseycitynj.infinitecampus.org/campus/portal/jerseycity.jsp. There is a different account for students and for parents. If you already have an account, but forgot your password or username, click on the links on the page to reset. If you haven’t yet created an account please go to www.jcboe.org and click on Parents Page, then Infinite Campus. This will take you to the Usage policy. Once you have read the policy and click on Agree, you will be directed to the Parent Portal URL.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR STUDENT EMAIL

All Jersey City Public School students have access to an email account. This account is what they will use to participate in Google Classroom (remote instruction) with their teachers. This account should not be used by parents to send emails. Emails from this jcpsnj.org account will be blocked going to other email domains. The domain only works for internal users. The Google domain new student accounts and existing student updates are being done this week and hopefully all currently enrolled students will have an account by this weekend.

The temporary password for new students and those that have not logged in during the summer break (over 60 days) will be studentLMI2021. Active students that have been using their accounts remotely are not being reset at this time. New student email addresses are their student ID@jcpsnj.org. In the example above of John Smith, the email address would be 123456@jcpsnj.org.
