This week is the week of
Week of Respect Activities:Our School Counselors have set up a number of activities that can be found here and within your child's Google Classroom including Week of Respect Bingo and a way to share your thoughts about respect with the community!
The Week of Respect highlights positive character traits as they apply to school, family and community. These are lifelong traits that we will use to be the best person we can be at all times.
Respect is the theme of the week.
Character traits to focus on this week are: Fairness, Responsibility, Caring, Trustworthiness and Citizenship.
As a school we ask you to upload a single Google Slide with a photo of yourself or with family members holding a sign you created stating what respect means to you.
The Google slide should be one full slide, colorful, easy to read, and include a photo and your message responding to "What does respect mean to you?". The form can be found here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScKjXpvC_Bf4pGmZc2XhrNiJeI5DuuVC_2wGgnTDbtRJWHp4A/viewform
They've also provided an array of resources for students and families here:

Lunch applications help to determine funding for our school. It is imperative that every parent/guardian complete one application for their family.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: School Closed

Supporting Your Child During Remote Learning
Parents, thank you for all of the hard work you are doing in this process. To juggle family life, career and managing your children's time is difficult as I also experience it with my two kids.
Please refrain from giving your child the answers to questions while teachers are teaching, it doesn't give teachers an accurate view of the needs of your child. Ultimately, it does not help your child. Support your children by allowing them to make mistakes so they can learn from them and teachers can meet them with appropriate instruction.
Also, please remember that when on camera, the rest of the class can see & hear your children and anyone else in the room. Please be mindful of appropriate dress, language and place for your child to do their academic work. We recommend a table or desk if possible.
Please stay tuned for the first General PTA Meeting of the Year Virtually on Tuesday, October 13th. More info to come!
More Reminders
Reminders from Nurse Stone
Nurse Stone shared a number of important items with parents last week with regards to immunizations and updated physicals.
You can see them here. If you have any questions, please reach out to her:
bstone@jcboe.org.
Reminder: Photo Release Form
Thank you for all families that completed the photo release form. This helps us ensure your privacy concerns are maintained. If you have not completed it, please do so here:
Photo Release Form. Please note that one must be completed for every child at the school.
Reminder: Meal Distribution has changed
Reminder: Staff Communication
If your child is having any issues in class, please begin by communicating with their teacher directly. They will get back to you within 24 hours. We are all learning how to maneuver in this new environment. Please be patient and provide grace to teachers. We are doing so for students.
If you are having technical difficulties, please communicate that as soon as possible to your child’s teacher. While teaching live lessons, it is unlikely that a teacher will be able to respond to an email. However, the situation can be cleared up shortly thereafter.
Reminder: Attendance Matters
It’s important for students to arrive to class on time when live. Most schedules are consistent and are maintained that way in order for our students to learn the rhythms of their classes. If you have attendance concerns, please reach out to
Ms. Coleman.
Reminder: Encore Classes:
Reminders of Encore Classes are sent to middle school students on a daily basis and all other students receive reminders from their homeroom teachers. Please make sure you are checking the rotation schedule to determine if your child has live class or a remote assignment this week. Grades K, 3 & 6 will be live this week.
Google Classroom Codes can be found here.
